Transmission rebuilds, done on our own bench
A rebuild means your transmission comes out, gets completely disassembled, cleaned and inspected, and goes back together with the worn and failed parts replaced. We do it in-house in Cutler Bay, on the bench in the photos, not shipped out.

When a rebuild is the right call
- Slipping under load or between gears that a fluid service did not fix
- Burnt-smelling, dark fluid with material in the pan
- No reverse, or a gear that has stopped engaging
- A diagnosis that shows internal wear rather than an external fault
- A vehicle worth keeping, where a rebuilt original unit beats a used one of unknown history

What a rebuild involves
This is the work on the bench in our photos.

Diagnose and confirm
Fluid, codes, road test and pressure checks first. If it is not a rebuild, we do not sell you one.

Remove and tear down
The unit comes out and is disassembled completely: pump, valve body, drums, clutch packs, planetaries, bands, seals.
- 03
Clean, inspect, replace
Every hard part is cleaned and measured. Clutches, steels, seals, gaskets, bushings and any worn hard parts are replaced.

Assemble, install, road test
Reassembled to clearance specs, installed with fresh fluid and a cleaned cooler, and driven before you get it back.

Good to know
- We rebuild your original unit rather than swapping in an unknown one, so the transmission matches the vehicle it came out of.
- A torque converter is normally replaced with a rebuild; reusing a worn converter is how a fresh rebuild fails early.
- Ask us to show you the old parts. We would rather you see the wear than take our word for it.

Questions we get asked
What is the difference between a rebuild and a replacement?
A rebuild reconditions your own transmission with new wear parts. A replacement installs a different unit: rebuilt, remanufactured or used. We explain both on the replacement page and recommend one after the diagnosis.
Is a rebuilt transmission as good as new?
A properly rebuilt unit with the wear parts replaced and any updated components fitted performs like the original did when new. What matters is the inspection: a rebuild that reuses worn hard parts will not last.
Do you rebuild transmissions in-house?
Yes. The teardown, cleaning, inspection and assembly happen on our bench at 10715 SW 190th St. Nothing is sent out.
How long does a rebuild take?
It depends on the unit and parts availability. We give you the expected time with the written estimate, and we call if anything changes it.
